About
Castle Beach, Tenby - Sunday Times Beach of the Year 2019
Castle Beach is the smallest of Tenby’s three sandy beaches, at only about 150m wide and narrower at high tide. When the tide is out it is split in two by St. Catherine’s Island, with its old fort. At very low tide the sand is continuous with South Beach, forming an uninterrupted 2 mile stretch of golden beach. At the top of Castle beach is a wide sloping band of soft dry sand. Lower down it is firm, sloping on the left and fairly level on the right. A stone gateway leads to a steep slope which is reasonably smooth, patched tarmac and concrete and access for disabled people is fairly good.
Blue Flag beach. Dog restrictions apply to the whole beach west of St Catherine’s Island May - end September. Lifeguard service provided 10:00 - 18:00 15 June to 1 September 2019.
